Building Strong Communities

The most vulnerable communities and community members are often the most isolated and socially disadvantaged, with women, children, and the elderly among the most likely populations to suffer disproportionate harm. Many marginalized communities, in addition to struggling with poverty, confront a lack of power to access vital resources, to acquire skills and knowledge, and to preserve and maintain the cultural mores and practices of their homeland.

WE Trust supports communities in advocating for their rights and interests, and in finding long-term solutions to the shocks of conflict, natural disasters, and economic and humanitarian crises. Our grantees’ projects work to alleviate the hardship endured by communities, by working with them to implement initiatives that are acceptable across the board—morally, environmentally, and culturally. We believe that limited resources should not limit one’s power to bring about change, spark progress, and overcome injustice.
